Police issue Edgbaston murder update as detectives continue to hunt gunman
West Midlands Police has issued a murder probe update after a man was found fatally shot in a car. Detectives continue to hunt the gunman after the shocking attack in Edgbaston.
Emergency services had responded to reports that two people had been shot when they were called to Rotton Park Road, near the junction with City Road in Edgbaston, just before 11pm, on Friday, November 22. A man, aged in his 20s, was found in a car - but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specialist support officers.
Another man, aged in his 30s, was found injured at a bus stop and remains in hospital. Now police have said that a man, in his 30s, who was initially arrested on suspicion of murder has now been "released from the investigation." The force confirmed to BirminghamLive that the man has been ruled out of their inquiries.

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, or may have dashcam footage or mobile phone footage from the area at the time, to contact them. The force has created an online portal where you can upload your footage directly.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Harrison, from the police's Homicide team, said: "This was a tragic incident, and we’re working at pace to understand exactly what happened. The shooting took place near the busy junction with City Road and it may be that you have information which can help our investigation progress. If so, please get in touch urgently.”
