Police issue major update as officer 'dragged under car' in Leeds chase

A police officer who was ‘dragged under a car’ in Leeds has been left with non-life threatening injuries, West Yorkshire Police has confirmed.

Shortly after 1.15pm on Friday, May 31, a Seat Ibiza failed to stop for a roads policing unit. The vehicle was pursued before being brought to a stop a few minutes later on Selby Road, Leeds.

A police officer also sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital, police say. A video later emerged online of the police officer being dragged underneath the car.

The occupants of the vehicle were arrested at the scene.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police added: “Enquiries remain ongoing which necessitated the road being closed for a short time.

“A second vehicle not involved in the pursuit was also damaged in the incident.”
