Police issue statement after 'death of two people in Coventry flat tragedy'
Police have confirmed that a man and a woman died in a tragic fire that engulfed a first-floor flat in Coventry. It happened on The Coppice in Stoke Aldermoor.
Firefighters rushed to the scene at around 4.40am on Friday (November 8) and spent more than an hour battling the blaze, which they say had 'affected the entire property.' Two people, who have not been named, were found dead inside the address on The Coppice.
Flowers have been laid outside the flat alongside a touching message that says: 'You will be missed.' Police said they have been investigating the cause of the large blaze with West Midlands Fire Service.

Investigators determined that the fire was 'accidental' and had been sparked by the battery pack of an e-bike on charge in the hallway, West Midlands Police said. Officers say the incident is 'not being treated as suspicious.'
In a statement issued today (November 11), West Midlands Police said: “We have been working alongside West Midlands Fire Service to investigate the fire on The Coppice on Friday (November 8).
“Investigators have now confirmed the cause of the fire was accidental and caused by the battery pack of an e-bike on charge. Our thoughts remain with the man and woman who died, and we will now both assist the coroner with their enquiries.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “No further information relating to the cause or the victims who sadly lost their lives in this tragic accident will be released at this time. Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic accident.”
