Police issue statement after young boy hit by car in Coventry

Police have appealed for witnesses after a young boy was hit by a car in Coventry. It happened on Tile Hill Lane yesterday morning (Tuesday, October 1).

Paramedics were called to reports that a child had been struck by a car near West Coventry Academy at around 8.40am. Crews found that a young boy, who was a pedestrian, had sustained minor injuries.

He was quickly taken to University Hospital Coventry in Walsgrave. Medics assessed the driver of the car, but they did not require treatment, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

Officers spoke to the driver of the vehicle who remained at the scene to assist with enquiries, West Midlands Police said. Witnesses have been urged to get in touch by calling 101 or by using WMP Live Chat.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We were called to reports of a child being hit by a car on Tile Hill Lane in Coventry at around 8.40am on Tuesday, October 1. He was taken to University Hospital Coventry with injuries thankfully not believed to be serious.
