Police issue warning over common parcel mistake that makes it 'easy' for thieves
Residents are being warned against making it easy for thieves to steal their parcels as delivery firms gear up for the busiest time of the year.
With many people now choosing to order their Christmas presents online instead of heading to the high street the likes of Amazon and Evri drivers will be a regular sight in many streets over the coming weeks.
Online retailers often allow customers to set instructions on where to leave parcels if they are not at home but police are warning that one common mistake makes it "easy and convenient" for thieves.

PCSO Halima Sidat from Blackburn Police issued the warning via In The Know. The officer has urged people to provide instructions at the time of ordering or to track their parcels.
PCSO Sidat said: "With the rise in online shopping and the advent of Christmas and Sales Season, we know many residents put little cards on doors or windows with instructions for courier drivers delivering your parcels.
"As much as I appreciate this is an easy and convenient way to receive your parcels while you are not at home, this is also an easy and convenient way for opportunists to check in your “safe place” and steal your parcels.
"Where possible please take down the card, until you are due a delivery leaving less chance for thefts to occur, and provide delivery instructions to the courier services at the point of ordering, or tracking the parcel."
