Police issue warning over 'scaremongering' after NPAS spotted in Stratford
Residents have been slammed for 'scaremongering' after the National Police Air Service (NPAS) was spotted in Stratford. Officers were deployed around Tiddington yesterday afternoon (January 6).
Yesterday, a woman, who CoventryLive will not be naming, shared a post on Facebook claiming they were searching for a man after a woman was found badly injured. Dozens of people commented on the post, which sparked a warning from Stratford Police.
Officers said the deployment was not in response to an incident but instead assisting with 'ongoing enquiries.' Today, NPAS told CoventryLive that they were searching for a suspect, who has not been identified.

Police issued a statement yesterday (January 6) reminding people that speculating about incidents can be 'very harmful.' It can cause 'unnecessary panic and scaremongering,' they said.
A spokesman for Stratford Police said: “We are aware of speculation and rumours relating to the presence of an NPAS helicopter over Stratford. It was assisting with ongoing enquiries, this was not in response to any specific incident, and there is no risk to the wider public.
“We would like to remind you that speculation and rumours can be very harmful and cause unnecessary panic and scaremongering. Lets keep our community a happy and positive environment to live and work in.”
