Police issue update on Wolverhampton stabbing and say 'extra officers' will patrol area

Police have issued an update on a city centre stabbing that left a man 'seriously injured'. The man was attacked in Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton, on Sunday evening (November 17).

Emergency services swarmed the area just before 7pm and the injured man was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged, West Midlands Police has said.

The force has not made any arrests in connection with the incident. However 'extra officers' will be in the area to 'offer reassurance to the community'.

A police spokesperson said: "A man was taken to hospital following reports of a stabbing in Wolverhampton. We were called to Lichfield Street, shortly before 7pm last night following reports a man had been attacked.

"He received treatment at the scene before being transferred to hospital and was later discharged. We will have extra officers in the area today and over the coming days to offer reassurance to the community."
