Police issue 'zero tolerance' warning over lamping
Police arrested three men from Liverpool following a report of lamping in the Scarisbrick area of Lancashire. Lamping is the practice of hunting at night while using a high voltage spotlight to startle prey before shooting or sending dogs after it.
Yesterday evening (November 1), Lancashire Police's South Rural Taskforce intercepted three people with Lurcher dogs as they attempted to evade capture. The vehicle they had travelled in was located nearby and subsequently seized along with associated equipment and mobile phones. Three men, from Tuebrook, are set to attend court, according to a Facebook post by the Ormskirk and Rural West Lancs Police.
Lancashire Police says it has "a zero tolerance policy for anyone engaging in these cruel activities" and urges the public to "continue to report any suspicious activity observed in our rural communities."
