Police have launched an appeal after a serious assault occurred in Rawtenstall.

At around 1.25pm yesterday (Saturday, June 8), Lancashire Constabulary were called to a report of people fighting outside the Railway Tavern on Bury Road. In these reports, it is thought one of these people had a knife.

A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital with abdominal injuries and a suspected stab wound to the neck, but fortunately his injuries are thought not to be life-threatening. However, police are reassuring the public this was an isolated incident.

The force states it isn't thought that there are any further risks to the public and more police officers may be in the area over the coming days. They will be carrying out enquiries or act as reassurance patrols.

Rossendale Police are also appealing for information for anyone who witnessed the attack, or anyone who may have dash cam footage of the area. This would be for Bury Road between 1pm and 1.45pm yesterday.

The police are aware of individuals who have filmed the assault and ask them to contact the force and refrain from sharing the footage on social media. If you do have information, you can call 101 by quoting log 638 of June 8.
