Police launch hunt for attacker who 'slashed woman across bottom' outside London flat

Police are appealing to the public for information after a man slashed a woman across the bottom in a London doorway.

Metropolitan Police officers have released CCTV footage of the “random” attack in Westminster at the end of October, and are seeking to speak to the man involved.

The victim, a woman in her twenties, can be seen preparing to enter a flat on Craven Terrace when a man sneaks up behind her and slices across her bottom before walking quickly away.

The woman was taken to hospital for medical attention following the assault, suffering from a superficial wound.

Officers did not identify the weapon used in the incident - which took place at around 8.45pm on 25 October - describing it only as a “sharp object”.

They also described the attack as a “random” act of violence, since the man was not known to the victim.

They are urging anyone who can identify the man featured in the CCTV footage to come forward.

He is believed to be of medium to tall build and was wearing a big jacket and a hat at the time of the assault.

Detective Constable Yousuf Bhamjee, from Westminster CID, said: “This assault has had a significant impact on the victim. I am appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with us.”
