Police launch murder investigation after man in his 40s is stabbed to death in Birmingham

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 40s was stabbed to death outside a kebab shop in the early hours of today (Mon).

Emergency crews dashed to Stratford Road in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, at around 12.50am to reports of a man who had been attacked.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was found collapsed in the road near the Kosy Kebab shop. Paramedics rushed him to hospital but he died a short time later.

Three men in their 30s and another man in his 20s have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Superintendent Shaun Edwards, of West Midlands Police, said: "We are still trying to piece together what happened in the early hours of this morning.

"We are appealing for anyone who was in or around the area, in particular if anyone has any dash-cam footage that captures the incident, to get in touch.

“Part of Stratford Road has been cordoned off while a thorough forensic search is carried out; with detectives also examining CCTV in the area.”

People living in the area say there was a fight involving "lots of men" shortly before the fatal stabbing.

One man said: "It was kicking off from just after midnight. There must have been about ten men all screaming and fighting.

"I heard the guy who was stabbed was Somali and he was attacked outside the Kosy Kebab.

"This area has always been pretty rough but recently it's so violent I don't even bother going out after dark."
