Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was killed and another left seriously injured in a stabbing in London.

Officers were called to the scene on Manford Way in Hainault, north-east London at about 10.20pm on Friday night.

One man, believed to be 23, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second, thought to be 22, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The Metropolitan Police said a murder investigation had been launched and that no arrests had been made.

The man, who police believe was shot at by two people on a moped, was taken to an east London hospital following the incident on Amhurst Road, near the junction with Downs Passage, at about 9.30pm. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
