By now, we should all be familiar with the current coronavirus lockdown rules that are in place in the UK. You know, the ones that say social gatherings are banned, to help slow the spread of the infectious disease that has left the NHS struggling to cope.

Sadly, it seems that there are still people out there blatantly ignoring them, as Derby West Police said yesterday that they had to break up a "massive" karaoke party, with 25 in attendance. Err, sorry... what?

The force aired their despair in a tweet, which reads: "Officers have just attended an address in absolute shock to find 25 adults and children having a massive party with speakers and karaoke. Everyone dispersed and hosts dealt with. It is clear people are still having complete disregard for the government advice and rules."

It's unclear whether the hosts (or guests) of the party were fined or had further action taken against them.

This comes only a short time after police in Coventry said they had to break up a busy family barbecue. Come on, people – why could anybody ever think that breaking lockdown rules is worth it, for a limp burger or burnt sausage? So many of us are missing our families too, but realise that social distancing is in place for the greater good. As made clear by this interview with an NHS critical care nurse.

So, we'll say it once more for those at the back: stay home, save lives.
