A police spokesperson said: “Officers discovered him while driving to another incident and, despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was declared dead at the scene. His next of kin and the coroner have been informed.”
The car involved in the incident stopped at the scene, police said. No arrests have been made. Officers have conducted house-to-house enquiries and examined CCTV footage and are now keen to speak to the driver of a white vehicle that was seen on Matson Avenue shortly after midnight, who may have witnessed the man before the collision, and seen the collision itself.
The police would also like to speak to anyone with dash cam footage which they believe to be relevant. The road was closed following the incident and closures remain on Painswick Road, between Heron Way and Norbury Avenue, while investigations continue.
