A man and woman have been 'told to leave' a former discount store. Officers responded to reports of a burglary at Tunstall's old Poundland store in the town centre.

Police found two people inside the empty High Street building. But Staffordshire Police have said nothing was taken.

StokeonTrentLive has reported how the vacant unit has been snapped up by an unnamed private investor for £270,000. It was left empty after Poundland moved to the town's Jasper Square Retail Park in October 2020.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called to a vacant retail unit on High Street, Tunstall, following reports of a burglary. Officers attended and two individuals, a man and a woman, aged 36 and 40, were told to leave the property. Nothing was taken and the owner of the property was made aware."
