Police officers mistakenly raided the wrong house when rushing to attend a concern for welfare incident. Emergency services were called to Station Road in Westcliff-on-Sea just after 10am on Monday (January 27).

Officers arrived at the scene and worked with paramedics to treat a man before they were taken to hospital. Prior to finding the man, however, officers forced entry to another property in an attempt to find the reported individual.

Essex Police said they had spoken to the resident at the affected address and apologised for the inconvenience caused. They have also arranged for a damaged door to be repaired.

Inspector Andrew Jopson said: “Our officers respond as quickly as possible with the information they are provided with when someone needs their help. I’d like to commend my officers’ for their swift response for urgent help in this case.

"It is only right that we arrange for the repairs to the second property officers who entered. I’d like to offer my personal apologies to the person that lives there for the inconvenience caused as well."
