Police name man accused of knifepoint robbery at Rochford convenience store

Officers have secured a charge against a man after a knifepoint robbery at a shop in Rochford. Essex Police said they were called on June 30 to reports of a robbery at a store in West Street.

It was reported one suspect entered the shop and demanded cash, before leaving with a two-figure sum. The report was made at around 6.50pm.

Officers attended and enquiries have continued throughout the past week. A man was arrested on July 4

Jay Phipps, 37, of Rochford Garden Way, has been charged with robbery. He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on July 6.

At the hearing, he was remanded in custody. He will next appear in court as Basildon Crown Court on August 5.
