Police officers sacked immediately for having sex at work
Two South Yorkshire Police officers have been sacked for having sex with each other at work.
The decision to dismiss them both was made at the end of a misconduct hearing that took place at The Professional Standards Department in Sheffield on August 19.
Members of the public were not allowed to attend due to the hearing taking place in private. Misconduct hearings are allowed to take place in private subject to the discretion of the person chairing or conducting the hearing.

No further explanation was given but the force says on its website the hearing was held in relation to the pair having sex with one another in January 2024. It was found the officers' actions amounted to gross misconduct and that they had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour.
A spokesperson for the force said: "The outcome of the hearing was that the officers were dismissed without notice."
Another private hearing in relation to another officer working at South Yorkshire Police was also held on the same day. It was alleged this officer sent inappropriate messages to a woman he met in the course of his duties while investigating a missing person in November 2023.
