Police Officers Shot in Louisville Amid Breonna Taylor Protests

Police arrested a 26-year-old man on September 24, suspected of shooting two police officers in Louisville, Kentucky, amid September 23 protests over a decision in the case of Breonna Taylor, according to reports.

This footage captures the moment shots were fired at police officers during the city-wide demonstrations, and later shows armed police ordering people to distance themselves as other officers detain a man on the ground.

Local media cited police as saying the two officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer put a 72-hour curfew in place, set for 9 pm to 6.30 am local time.

Former Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) Officer Brett Hankison was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment in the first degree. Hankison was fired from the police force on June 23 for his role in the shooting death of Taylor.

Sgt Jonathan Mattingly and Det Myles Cosgrove, the other two officers who fired their weapons while trying to serve a search warrant on Taylor’s apartment in the early hours of March 13, were not charged. Credit: Anonymous via Storyful
