Police patrol frozen lakes amid stern 'under no circumstances' warning
Patrols of frozen water are being undertaken by police amid fears people are trying to walk on an iced-over lake in Gloucestershire. Temperatures have plunged below freezing again as the cold weather snap continues.
Officers from Stroud's Neighbourhood Policing Team have been out on patrol after reports of people trying to walk on Stratford Park Lake in Stroud. The team said on X this morning (Saturday, January 11): "Please do not attempt to walk on frozen lakes, ponds, canals & reservoirs under any circumstances."
It follows a similar warning issued by Tewkesbury Borough Council who tweeted on Friday: "Just a quick reminder about the dangers of frozen water. Some of the flood water in our borough has frozen over - don’t be tempted to walk on it.
