Police presence in Devon town in search to find missing man

Police were involved in a search for a missing person in North Devon on Friday afternoon. The man in his 60s was reported missing in Barnstaple at around 2.25pm, and was found safe and well by 5.30pm.

Four police cars were parked near Wetherspoon's The Panniers pub, in Boutport Street, as officers from Devon and Cornwall Police searched the area. After the man was found safe he was left in the care of health professionals

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to reports of a concern for welfare for a man in his 60s in Barnstaple at around 2.25pm today, Friday 24 May.

“Following enquiries, the man was located at a commercial premises in Boutport Street. Officers left him in the care of health professionals.”
