Police probe 'serious sexual assault' of teen as street is closed off

A city center street has been cordoned off in Glasgow as police investigate the serious sexual assault of a teenager.

Officers were called to Sauchiehall Lane at approximately 1.55am on Friday, November 15, following reports of a serious sexual assault involving a 19-year-old woman. The lane has been sealed off by police between Elmbank Street, near the Griffin pub, and Holland Street, close to the Hengler's Circus Wetherspoon.

Police continued to maintain a presence at the scene into Friday afternoon as investigations progressed, as reported by GlasgowLive.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.55am on Friday, 15 November, 2024 we received a report of a serious sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman in Sauchiehall Lane between the junction with Elmbank Street and Holland Street in Glasgow. Enquiries are ongoing."
