Police probing Cheshire river death want anyone who was in this area to come forward
Officers investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of teenager Jonty Evans have renewed their appeal for help. Jonty Evans, 16, was reported missing by his family on Saturday, August 31.
Sadly, his body was found in the River Weaver, near Riverside in Nantwich, on Sunday, September 1. An investigation into how Jonty entered the water remains ongoing.
Officers are now appealing to anyone who may have been in the Mill Island and Riverside area of Nantwich between 12.30am and 6am on August 31, and who may have information which coud assist the investigation. Officers are also asking the public to contact them if they believe they may have CCTV, ring doorbell or dashcam footage in the area during the same time period.
Detective Inspector Nigel Parr, of the Constabulary's Major Investigation Team, said: "Our enquiries into how Jonty entered the River Weaver remain ongoing, and, as part of our investigation, we are looking to hear from anyone who may have been in the Mill Island area of Nantwich between 12.30am and 6am on Saturday 31 August.
"Anyone with any CCTV, dashcam, Ring doorbell footage or any information relating to this incident can submit it to police directly via MIPP." Alternatively, information can be passed on to Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website, quoting IML-1907900.
