Police officers have been left stunned after pulling over a dangerously overloaded pick-up truck in Cannock, Staffordshire.

The Mitsubishi L200 Trojan truck was piled high with a mountain of stuff, all held together by three pieces of rope.

The driver, who held a provisional licence so had yet to pass their test, was pulled over at Stadium Garage petrol station in Pye Green Road at around 5pm on Sunday.

Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG), a group of officers from West Midlands Police and Staffordshire Police, shared photos of the truck on Twitter.

Garden chairs, bikes, radiators, a lawnmower and a metal table were stocked up in the back of the black 4x4.

A white box had also been attached to the back of the car in an attempt to hold it all together.

CMPS wrote alongside the photos: “Just dropped off the network to help our colleagues at @StaffsPolice @CannockPolice with a bit of advice with this one.

The post was quickly flooded with reactions from Twitter users.

Philip Rogers replied: "I would not want to play them at Tetris. In the real world I hope someone throws the book at them."
