Police race to street in Rusholme after reports of assault

Police raced to a street in Rusholme on Monday evening (September 23) after a man was reportedly assaulted.

A number of police vehicles were seen in attendance on Great Western Street at around 8pm. It is understood a man, who was treated at the scene, had been the victim of an attack.

Videos shared on social media showed a number of police vehicles parked at the junction with Roberts Avenue as the man, aged in his 30s, was treated by paramedics at the scene. Police arrived on blue lights shortly before 8pm along with paramedics.

It is thought the victim was then taken to hospital from the scene with minor injuries. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident with an investigation ongoing.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police remained at the scene throughout Monday evening. A spokesperson for the force said: "At around 7.10pm on Monday 23 September 2024, we were called to reports of an assault on Great Western Street, Manchester.

"A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with minor injuries. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
