Police release update on 77-year-old man left with 'significant injuries' after suspected hit and run

Police have released an update on a 77-year-old man who was left with "significant injuries " following a suspected hit and run in Rhyl. The incident happened on Kingsley Avenue yesterday (Saturday), shortly before 8.25am. Four people were arrested following the incident and police launched an appeal for witnesses.

Today a North Wales Police spokesperson said: "The 77-year-old man remains in hospital in Stoke with significant injuries. All four individuals who were arrested yesterday (Saturday) in connection with the incident have been released on police bail pending further investigation."

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Gibson added: “Working closely with our colleagues in Probation, we can confirm that one of the individuals involved has been recalled to prison. Another remains in police custody in relation to unrelated matters.

“It is imperative that we provide the fullest available evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service. At this stage we are not searching for anyone else in this matter.

“I'd like to thank all those who have made contact with us following yesterday's witness appeal, however, can I please urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or who observed the 57-plate Silver Ford Focus being driven prior to or post collision to come forward as soon as possible.”
