An angry swan was rescued by police for obstructing the highway in what officers described as a "road rage incident".

Officers joked that they had put the swan "in custody" in the back of a patrol car. They described its "offences" as "road rage, an RTC [road traffic collision] and obstructing the highway."

The Cambridge Special Constabulary posted photos of the swan on Twitter with the hashtag #HotFuzz, referring to the spoof film Hot Fuzz in which Simon Pegg plays the role of a London police officer who apprehends an escaped swan.

The swan was found on a main road at about 7.30am and put it in the patrol car while police awaited its rescue from the RSPCA.
