Police Rescue Baby Being Used as Human Shield in Bank Robbery

Police arrested a woman in Murphy, Texas, on July 18 who doused a bank in lighter fluid and gasoline during an attempted robbery and then tried to use a baby as a human shield to evade officers.

Evelyn Misumi, 36, was later arrested and the child was taken to a hospital out of precaution, police said.

During the botched robbery attempt, Bank of America employees called 911 and Misumi ran outside and pulled the baby out of her car as she “attempted to use the child as a shield” before she surrendered, the Murphy Police Department said in a statement.

The video, which was shared on Twitter on July 18, shows moments when the police grabbed the baby from Misumi and arrested her.
