A Leicestershire town centre street was cordoned off late on Saturday night (September 22). Video from the scene, shared with LeicestershireLive, showed police tape blocking off Hinckley's Market Place, at around 11pm.

Leicestershire Police and the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were both in attendance, the video revealed. Concerned residents took to social media, asking what was happening in the town centre.

Leicestershire Police has now told LeicestershireLive officers had been called out shortly before 10.45pm following reports of a man on a roof. The man came down at around midnight, with officers taking him "to a place of safety", a spokeswoman for the force added.
