Police responding to reports of a gun in West London were shocked when it turned out it was an umbrella.

Officers raced to Addison Crescent near Holland Park in West London at 5.30pm this evening (Thursday, November 28) to reports of a man carrying a gun.

But upon arrival the chap was carrying a brolly. No weapon was found.

There were no arrests, and the crime scene was quickly lifted. Police added there was no danger to the public, certainly not from the umbrella.

Police added that they spoke with the brolly-wielding member of the public to confirm there was no weapon on him.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers attended and spoke with the man. No weapon was found, and it was confirmed he was holding an umbrella. No arrests were made.”
