Police search for 'car enthusiasts' after A34 crash leaves one dead and two hurt
Police are trying to trace 'car enthusiasts' who were in a lay-by near where a fatal crash happened in Stoke-on-Trent. A 21-year-old BMW driver was confirmed dead at the scene following the two-car smash on the A34 Stone Road close to the Trentham Gardens roundabout.
A passenger in the BMW and the driver of a black Renault Clio were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital following the collision, which happened on the southbound side at around 8.30pm last night (November 2).
The road was closed for several hours as a major investigation got underway. Now detectives are keen to speak to what they described as 'car enthusiasts' who they believe may have vital information.

The appeal has been issued as floral tributes were left at the scene in a lay-by heading from Trentham to the Monkey Forest. StokeonTrentLive has chosen not to name the crash victim at this stage.
Renewing their appeal, a Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We’re continuing to appeal for information after a man sadly died following a collision on the A34 Stone Road. It happened at about 8.30pm last night when a grey BMW estate and a black Renault Clio collided on the southbound carriageway, between Trentham Gardens and the Monkey Forest island.
"Sadly, a 21-year-old local man, who was driving the BMW, was pronounced dead at the scene. Specialist officers continue to support his family and would ask that people do not speculate on social media as to the circumstances surrounding the collision.
