Fatuma Kadir: missing 11-year-old schoolgirl found in London

An 11-year-old girl who went missing from her home in Greater Manchester has been found in London, police have said.

Fatuma Kadir, from Bolton, was discovered on Saturday afternoon. Police had been searching for her since Friday, after it was reported she had travelled to the capital overnight.

DCI Paul Rollinson from Greater Manchester police said: “She was found in London earlier today so we are now working to reunite her with her parents, who are, as you can imagine, incredibly relieved.”

Appealing for their daughter to return home quickly, her parents said she left home without their knowledge on Thursday night and travelled on several trains to arrive at Euston station at 1.13am on Friday.

Before she was found, the schoolgirl’s parents, Asheem and Misra, had said they were in a “state of shock” following her disappearance.

Fatuma was reported missing just before 10.45pm on Thursday night. After inquiries, she was found to have boarded a train from Manchester Piccadilly at 9.27pm to Birmingham New Street before getting on to another train from there at 11.10pm to London Euston.
