Police seek witnesses after vehicles hit by catapult fire on A2 in Darenth
Witnesses are being urged to get in touch with police after numerous vehicles were damaged by projectiles on the A2 near Darenth on Thursday (November 7). Windows and bodywork were hit by objects being fired from an area near the carriageway at around 5.50pm.
Officers from Kent Police were called to the scene and conducted a search, however no arrests have yet been made. A ball bearing has been recovered for forensic examination and though police initially suspected that a catapult had been used, investigating officers say they are now ‘keeping an open mind’ on how the vehicles were damaged.
District Commander, Chief Inspector Will Lay, said: “It is fortunate that nobody was injured as a result of this incident. We initially thought catapults may have been used to launch the projectiles but are keeping an open mind as to how the damage was caused.
