Police seize escaped dog as owner hurt trying to 'bring it under control'
Police have seized an escaped dog after the owner was injured trying to bring it under control. Officers were sent to the street amid concerns for the loose Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross.
They say the owner suffered a minor injury after falling to the floor as they tried to catch the dog. But by the time they arrived at the scene, the dog was back in the house.
An investigation has now been launched into the incident, which happened in Nightingale Walk, Burntwood, shortly after 12noon 1today (September 11).

The dog will also undergo a safety assessment before a decision is made on its future.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We have seized a dog that escaped from a house in Burntwood. At about 12.10pm today (Wednesday 11 September), we were called a street near Nightingale Walk following reports that a dog was loose in the street.
"The owner of the dog suffered a minor injury after falling to the floor in attempts to bring it back under control. By the time officers got to the scene, the dog had been put back in the house and was secured.
"No-one else was injured in the incident. The dog, believed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, has been seized by dog handlers for a safety assessment. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
