Police statement as 31 school children hurt - two seriously injured - in horror bus crash
Two 15-year-old school children have been seriously injured following a horror bus crash with a tractor. A further 29 students were injured following the 3.30pm crash just outside of Smeaton in East Yorkshire.
Images of the wreckage of the bus following the crash on Wednesday (January 22) afternoon circulated on social media. Police confirmed two teens - a 15-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl - were rushed to hospital following serious injuries as an investigation into the crash continues.
A Humberside Police spokesman said: "Officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a double decker school bus and a tractor on the A1035, Leas Lane near to Seaton at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, January 22).

"Emergency services attended, and a 15-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy have been taken to hospital to receive medical treatment to serious injuries. Twenty-nine passengers between the ages of 11- and 16 years-old suffered minor injuries.
"Road closures were put in place at the scene to allow emergency services to work safely, the road has since been reopened. Investigations are ongoing, and officers are carrying out a number of lines of enquiries to establish the circumstances of the collision."
