Police statement as injured woman cut free after car lands in A53 ditch
A woman had to be cut free after a crash left her car in a ditch off the A53. Emergency services were sent to Trentham Road, between Hanchurch and Butterton.
A white Skoda Fabia had come to a rest at the side of the road at just after 6.20am today (September 18). Paramedics treated her at the scene before taking her to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We were called at 6.20am today to the A53 from the A5192 Trentham Road to Bent Lane in Acton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, following reports of a collision.

"A white Skoda Fabia was found in a ditch off the side of the road. The driver, a woman in her 50s, was removed from the vehicle by fire crews. She was checked over by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital as a precaution. The vehicle was recovered from the scene."
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by police to reports of a road traffic collision on Trentham Road. One ambulance attended and arrived to find a car which had left the road.
"The driver, a woman, was out of the vehicle. She was assessed by the ambulance crew before being conveyed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital as a precaution."
