Police statement after swan killed in hit-and-run
Police are appealing for witnesses after a much-loved swan was killed in a hit-and-run. Swanness died after being struck by a vehicle on Flaxman Close, in Barlaston, at around 2pm on Sunday, November 24.
The graceful bird had become somewhat of a feathered celebrity in Barlaston with its partner and their cygnets.
Now Staffordshire Police have issued a statement following the tragedy.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for information after a swan was struck and killed by a vehicle on Flaxman Close. Witnesses are urged to contact us with any information they have, including CCTV or dashcam footage, of the area at the time."
Witnesses should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 228 of 28 November, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
