Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service warns that even small outdoor fires can be dangerous as they place additional stress on its “limited resources”.
“Dealing with a nuisance fire affects our ability to respond to more serious incidents like house fires or road traffic accidents,” it says.
People can anonymously report deliberate firesetting through FireStoppers, which is managed by CrimeStoppers. To report a fire, call 08001695558 or go to www.firestoppersreport.co.uk.
In the 2023/24 year, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service attended 6,889 incidents - and 803 of which were deliberate fires. Meanwhile, 364 were accidental dwelling fires and 53 were chimney fires. It also dealt with 612 road traffic collisions.
