Police swarm Chelmsford street near railway station as man arrested for having 'knuckleduster and spitting at police officers'
A man has been arrested for allegedly having a knuckleduster and spitting at two police officers in the centre of Chelmsford. Essex Police descended on Townfield Street near Chelmsford Railway Station on Thursday afternoon (September 19).
Witnesses reported seeing between eight and ten police vehicles attending the road following a disturbance. A man was subsequently arrested and remains in police custody.
It was reported that a person was assaulted at the scene, but no one is said to have been seriously injured. Essex Police have confirmed one man was arrested, with a patient being treated at the scene by paramedics but not requiring hospital treatment.

A spokesman for the police said: "Following an incident that occurred in Chelmsford on Thursday 19 September, a man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon (knuckle duster) and spitting on two officers in Townfield Street. He remains in police custody."
