Police swoop on Coventry Train Station after reports of 'suspicious bag'
Police swooped on Coventry Railway Station following reports of a 'suspicious bag.' Officers were called to the incident yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, November 27).
Officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) rushed to Coventry Railway Station on Station Square at around 4pm. Trains were also reportedly stopped.
It followed reports of a person with a 'suspicious bag.' Officers checked the bag but found that it did not contain anything suspicious, the BTP said.

In a statement to CoventryLive, the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Coventry Railway Station at 3.57pm yesterday (November 27) to a report of a suspicious bag. Officers attended, and the bag was confirmed to be not suspicious.”
A spokesman for Network Rail said: “Staff at Coventry Railway Station were alerted to reports of a suspicious package on board a train at around 5pm on Wednesday (November 27). We held the train, and other services heading to Coventry were diverted while Network Rail incident officers and British Transport Police attended to investigate.
“Network Rail supported the train operator and BTP by ensuring the safe movement of trains and passengers until BTP gave the all-clear on the package, with normal service resuming after around 45 minutes. We would like to thank passengers for their patience while investigations and checks took place.”
