Police Tackle and Restrain Face Mask-Wearing Protester

Anti-government protesters faced off against authorities in Hong Kong on October 13, vandalizing shops and shouting slogans at police.

The demonstrations, described by local media as “flash mob protests,” came as the city enters its 19th consecutive week of political unrest.

This footage shows police chasing and restraining a man before loading him into a police vehicle. Campus TV HKUSU said the man had started running away after police told him to remove his face mask.

Mass protests in Hong Kong started in March over a now-shelved extradition bill that would have allowed people to be sent to mainland China for trial.

The protests have broadened, with hundreds of thousands of people participating in multiple rallies, most recently about a new law banning face masks at protests. Credit: Campus TV HKUSU via Storyful
