Police taped off a main road in Bolton on Tuesday afternoon (September 10) after a child was struck by a vehicle near a bus stop.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Lee Lane, in Horwich, near to the Crown pub, at around 3.50pm. The child, whose age and gender has not been disclosed, was rushed to hospital from the scene.

The collision, which closed off the busy road in both directions, is just a minute away from where another child, a boy, was hit by a car on nearby Chorley New Road on Monday (September 9).

The condition of the child, who was taken to hospital from the scene, has not yet been confirmed. A white van was also pictured within the cordon in the centre of the road.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 3.50pm this afternoon (Tuesday 10 September 2024) we were called to Lee Lane in Horwich, Bolton, to a road traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

"Lee Lane will remain closed for the foreseeable and it is advised to find an alternate route."
