Police target two Coventry roads in speeding crackdown and say 'we have listened'
Police have warned that they will be targeting speeding drivers on two major roads in Coventry. Officers have recently been deployed on Clifford Bridge Road and Broad Lane.
Officers and PCSOs from Coventry Police visited Clifford Bridge Road in December 2024. Concerns had been raised about people driving at speed along the major stretch near University Hospital Coventry.
PC Hundel issued a speeding ticket and sent out multiple warning letters for first-time offenders, Coventry Police said in a statement today (January 27). Officers from the Canley SNT visited Broad Lane on Friday (January 24).

Letters have been issued to those caught driving above the 30mph speed limit, Coventry Police said. Officers said they are continuing to tackle speeding in the city and will be routinely patrolling Clifford Bridge Road and Broad Lane.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Coventry Police said: “Officers, PCSOs, and members of your local community have been out doing Speedwatches across Coventry. Back in December, we posted a photo of our Stoke and Wyken SNT on Clifford Bridge Road, and we received multiple comments asking us for Speedwatches on other roads.”
It added: “We have listened to concerns and been back out to Clifford Bridge Road. PC Hundel issued a ticket for speeding and sent out multiple warning letters for first-time offenders.
“Officers from your Canley SNT did a Speedwatch on Broad Lane with members of your local community on Friday (January 24). Warning letters will be sent to those caught speeding, and if it is their second time being caught, they will be receiving a very different type of letter. Your neighbourhood teams will continue to keep Clifford Bridge Road and Broad Lane on their rotation and patrol schedule for the foreseeable future.”
