Police Use Tear Gas to Disperse Protesters Outside Athens Parliament Building

Police fired tear gas at protesters outside a government building in Athens on January 12 following a demonstration over planned economic reforms, including a restriction on the right to strike.

Thousands took part in a march in central Athens to highlight their frustration at the government proposals before congregating outside the Hellenic Parliament.

In a statement, the trade union GSEE said the government’s proposal would be a blow to workers, pensioners and the unemployed. Credit: YouTube/newsbeastgr via Storyful
