The search is on as police become 'very concerned' about the welfare of a Swindon man last seen going to the shops several hours ago.

Alphonso Galasso, 79, was last seen leaving his address in West Swindon at lunchtime on Wednesday.

Updated: Wiltshire Police confirmed on Thursday morning that Mr Galasso was found safe and well.

Almost 12 hours later, Wiltshire Police have now put out an appeal for any information on his whereabouts.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Alphonso was last seen leaving an address in west Swindon at approximately 12pm today (November 23) to go to the Toothill shops. He has not returned home, and we are very concerned for his welfare.

"He is described as a bit thinner than in this photo and wearing a large silver/grey coat and jeans.

"If you have seen him or know his whereabouts, please contact us on 101 and quote log 326 of today."
