Police Warn Protesters to Disperse From Rally in Causeway Bay

Six thousand police officers were reported to have been deployed in Hong Kong on October 1, as authorities aimed to quell any protests on the anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Authorities earlier warned against taking part in banned anti-government protests, as the city braced for a repeat of last year’s violent scenes. However, according to the South China Morning Post, protests this year were “muted and scattered”.
