Sri Lankan Police Use Water Cannon Against Protestors

Police used water cannon to disperse protestors demonstrating against the economic crisis in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on July 8.

Reuters reported that 3,000 police and paramilitary forces were deployed in the capital to defend public buildings from protestors.

Tear gas and water cannon were used against protestors who tried to march on the president’s residence, reports said.
