Police have issued an update after a woman fell from an electric scooter. Merseyside Police were called to Princes Parade in Liverpool city centre at around 6.30pm today, Saturday, September 21.

It followed a report a woman suffered serious injuries after falling from the electric scooter. She was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. In an update today, a spokesperson confirmed the woman was still fighting for her life.

At this stage no other party is believed to be involved and the force's roads policing unit is carrying out an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. They also appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A section of the road was cordoned off and drivers were diverted away from the area. Two vehicles including a licensed taxi were inside the police cordon next to two Voi scooters.

When the ECHO left the scene at around 9.15pm, there was no sign of police forensics. Pedestrians and cyclists can continue to access the area.
