Police have issued an update after a woman was found dead in a house. Emergency services were called to Brewster Street in Kirkdale at around 8.05am on Friday, September 27.

It followed a report of a concern for safety of a woman in her 40s. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Following the discovery, a 46-year-old man from Sefton was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken into custody to be questioned and officers conducted house-to-house enquiries in the area and a forensic examination of the scene took place.

In an update given to the ECHO, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed, on September 28, that a man has been conditionally bailed. A post-mortem examination will take place to establish her cause of death.
