Political parties suspend election campaigns in wake of ‘appalling’ Manchester attack

All of the major political parties have suspended campaigning after the Manchester terror attack which killed 22 people last night.

Prime Minister Theresa May is to chair an emergency Cobra meeting in London today after the suspected terror attack.

Mrs May, Jeremy Corbyn and other politicians have all expressed their horror at their attack.

The SNP postponed the launch of its election manifesto which was due today.

Mrs May said, ‘We are working to establish the full details of what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack.’

Jeremy Corbyn said he had been briefed by Greater Manchester Metro Mayor Andy Burnham.

Mr Corbyn said, ‘I would like to pay tribute to the emergency services for their bravery and professionalism in dealing with last night’s appalling events. I have spoken with the prime minister and we have agreed that all national campaigning in the general election will be suspended until further notice.’
